What is Gmail

Gmail is a free E-mail service that uses IMAP and POP protocols to synchronize emails, the service can be accessed through the website, official apps by google or any other third party programs.

Gmail account can be used to sign up for other Google services such as Google Drive, Google Plus and YouTube.

How to sign up for Gmail

Install the app by clicking the download button above, then fill in the required fields for a new account which include: first and last name, account user name, password, and phone number.

Gmail user interface

The Gmail user interface is simple, easy to use and attractive. The Inbox is well categorized into tabs, which are:

1. Primary, the most important emails are found in this tab, usually emails sent by individuals.
2. Social, all email from social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, those emails are usually notifications.
3. Promotions, here emails that contain ads are categorized, usually from sites such as eBay and Amazon.
4. Updates, emails from sites that users subscribed to.
5. Forums, emails that notify a user about discussions in a forum are grouped here.

Besides the categories above, one can create a new label then apply certain filters so that emails that match the filters be labeled and categorized as needed, this can be done from Manage labelstap. Another important thing emails from the Nigerian prince who desperately needs your help will go straight to Spam, so no need to make a filter for that.

To send a message all you need is to hit Compose, a file of size up to 25MB can be attached with messages, but don't worry you can send large files with the help of Google Drive, upload the files first to the drive then add the link to the message. The messages can be checked in the Senttap.
