Universal Media Server is compatible with the following protocols DLNA, UPnP, HTTP/S. It is also available on a number of operating systems, namely Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. It can be used to stream video, audio, and images on a local wired or wireless network with minimal configuration.

The media stream is streamed over the network and the UMS converts the video format to a format that is compatible with the connected devices in the network. As you can see from the previous list, the devices include smartphones, smart TVs, gaming devices, and others.
